Yeah , I know.

I'm actually asking about bi-amping though.

But your reasons for wanting to biamp came from a change in WATTS. Which is why Ivan is talking about watts.

Many people have given several very good reasons as to why bi-amping is not the answer.

It seems like you're just looking for validation of your beliefs and not open to differing perspective.

Don't get offended just because you didn't get the answer you were hoping to hear.

It depends.

Just because a loudspeaker is biamped does not mean it will sound better than passive.

If the "biamping process" (eq-delay-level-xover filter type/slope/ freq) is done correct, there is a possiblity it could outperform the passive setup.

That of course also assumes the passive xover is properly designed.

So without knowing all of the "variables" it is hard to say if biamping will actually gain you anything.

At best you could gain a little bit more output (a couple of dB possibly) and a little better transition through crossover.

At worst, it could sound worse. You could possibly damage the loudspeaker due to miswiring.

Your cable cost will be more and will require another amplifier and a larger/heavier rack.

So is it worth it?  That is not an easy question to answer.
