Small Follow Spot Advice
« on: September 22, 2016, 09:13:31 PM »

Hello,

I'm looking for one or two small spots for our venue.

Total throw distance (including drop) would be ~60' to the lip of the stage, 85' to the back.

Looking for basic spot with iris & focus/softening. Gel and/or gobo frames nice but not a requirement.

I would love an LED solution if available, but I'm not stuck on it.

Any suggestions?

Look at the Canto spotlights.  They have an LED line.  Really great stuff at a budget that beats domestic offerings.  We have a couple of the upper end 1200w arc units and love them.

Saw this LED unit at 2015 LDI and it blew the competition away in my opinion. Very bright and well-made mechanically. Spec'd two for a new project and will get to see them on site in a couple of weeks. Was going to spec the Canto LED but this was far superior.

What's your budget, at $1k you're looking at an Altman Luminator or Comet or similar from other companies.  As far as a quality LED followspot, the Robert Juliat Roxie comes in at the $5K range.
If your budget is below this, you're looking at a "S4 on a stick"
