LA cardioid deconstructed pt. 1
« on: March 19, 2016, 11:29:28 AM »

There appears to be a lot of controversy regarding the workings of the L-Acoustics cardioid configuration. It's been suggested that it is achieved by means of all-pass filters. Is it a gradient or end-fire solution? In part 1 of this series of articles I will try to explain what I have come to think of as a hybrid approach.

Nice article, I can't wait for pt2. Are you going to do an acoustical measurement?

Interesting, thx.  I can see i'm going to have to spend some time with your S.A.D. manual.

Curious, did you try a transfer, ch 1 against ch 2, straight on it's own  (ie ch2 ref, ch 1 meas) ?

I ask because i've been taking transfers like this confined to lower freqs, just using longer averaging periods to get around the Lin vs log issue you pointed out to me in previous posts. Want to make what i'm trying is valid.....

If you flip numerator and denominator then a cut becomes a boost or vice versa. that's all
