Vertec Pin Lubricant
« on: August 05, 2016, 03:51:32 PM »

Hi,
I am getting quite a few of the fly pins on a Vertec rig that are getting sticky and not releasing properly. Any idea what the best lubricant would be for these?

I have the same problem, and would love a suggestion as well! :)

I would go with powdered graphite ( lock lubricant) because it doesn't pick up dust and dirt.

Has anybody tried this stuff?  http://www.mclubemarine.com/sailkote/.  The miracle dry lube.  Have used it on similar pins on the sailboat along with tons of other uses.  I also use it for bicycle chains as it helps them run as quiet and free as any specialty bike lube but picks up less grime.

I've used spray teflon lube successfully on these pins on other systems.
Doesn't turn everything into an oily mess. Powered graphite gets messy.
It's also great for the coupling threads on veam connectors.

The sailkote spray looks to be a great solution.

While I haven't used it for your application, I've used moly lube for a lot of applications requiring extended use.  It comes in several forms.

I carry a can of spray silicone lubricant in every truck and every tool kit. Good for what ails ya'.
