I haven't experimented with this yet, but plan on doing so soon. Has anyone done this and have recommendations? Fwiw - I usually 'stand' them up rather than lay them down. Also, my crossover is usually set to 24 db/octave Linkwitz Riley at 100hz for the subs.

The Tapped horns follow the same basic math that any other sub does for directional configurations.
Basically you determine the center freq of interest-figure out the wavelength, then divide by 4 to get the 1/4 wavelength.
Then figure out the delay time associated with that distance.
Put that delay time on the rear sub and invert the polarity of the rear sub.
It really doesn't matter if they are standing up or laying down

The spacing is 4.5' and the delay is 4ms.
You can very easily adjust the delay and physical distances and watch the response of each mic and the coverage plot all change in real time. So you can fine tune if needed.
