SB1000zR vs TH118
« on: August 04, 2016, 02:11:01 PM »

What are your thoughts?

Going into a semi-mobile unit with RCF 4Pro 6001a tops.

Venues will vary, mostly indoor, some not.

Live avant-garde, electronic, DJ, full band, the works. Looking for deep, sustained, modern lows...

What happens if I run the EAW on its side to make it taller?

Will,

The SB1000 will work in either configuration, but IIRC only has stacking skids for the lower dimension.

My opinions on the SB1000zR vs TH118 can be seen in posts #8,10 & 12 here:
https://soundforums.net/forum/pro-audio/varsity/6968-th118vssb1000z

The post also has the frequency response and sensitivity of both compared in an identical fashion, so you can draw your own conclusions on everything but maximum output.

From my own memory, sound wise, I'd prefer the tapped horn, but the cones in the SB1000s I've heard may have become "tenderized" with age ;^).
