LS9-16 boots to reinitialize screen -- solved
« on: October 04, 2016, 11:57:12 AM »

I reinitialized all memories on my LS9-16 to correct another issue, but now when I boot it up, I get the re-initialize screen instead of normal operating mode.  Simple workaround: just scroll down to the Exit button. I've reloaded the current (1.35) firmware, and done the re-initialize all memories again.  I'm wondering if there's something else I can try, short of a QL1.

Kirby, have you tried an internet search?  I vaguely recall hearing about this several years ago but don't remember where I heard it...

But IIRC there is an obscure preference setting that gets toggled on upon reset to take you to the re-initialize screen... but under what menu this gets reversed, I can't tell you.

First thing I tried, followed by searches here and on other forums.

Bummer.  Maybe I'm just imaging this...

Give them a call.

Edit ps. I think you need to start the desk while holding the scene memory button, then pick exit or cancel or whatever the option is.  Do something, save a scene.  Reboot and see what happens.

IIRC the desk would boot in that mode if a fader calibration has failed. Tried recalibrating them?

I had an issue while updating the software on one of mine a few years back. The download was corrupt (or the USB stick was) and it would not complete or let me go back to a previous firmware, just hung on the initialize screen.
I'd try restarting with a known good stick with the latest firmware and see if that gets you going. It worked in my case anyways, though your situation is a little different.
Good luck.
