QLX-D and PSM900 latency problems?
« on: July 20, 2016, 05:51:00 PM »

hello,
i would like to go wireless with guitar and IEM

will I have problems of latency with those 2 together?
I have read that qlx has some latency and if added to a IEM system there might be problems

what do you think about it

Thank you

I would speculate you won't have any trouble. Issues generally only arise when you try to sum two like sources that have different arrival times, like the sound of your voice in your own head and the sound of it through an IEM. As your guitar does not emanate from your mouth, you'll mostly just be hearing it from the IEM. Small differences in arrival time from a single source shouldn't be noticeable. For example, in this case the 2.9ms of latency in QLX-D could be achieved simply by moving a floor monitor an additional 3ft away, or standing 3ft away from your amplifier.

PS - PSM900 is an analog system so it doesn't have any relevant latency.

Not enough info to answer completely,  Yes the qlx has 2.9 latency but you did not include the IEM and the Mixer?

digital mixer and IEM system can add to the latency.  So can you provide the mixer and IEM system ?

Thanks.

The OP specified PSM900, which is an analog product with no appreciable latency.

Aside from a very few individuals who can sense tiny amounts of latency, the usual concern about latency is with vocalists.

Your guitar rig might already have some latency from digital pedals.

Thanks for the support

Sometimes I will sing backing vocals but I will be wired.
