DIY IEM Antenna combiner

(1/1)

Doug Boyd:
I've used splitter/combiner units from Mini-Circuits in active & passive antenna distribution systems for wireless microphones, but would there be any issue using a 4 way power splitter/combiner such as the ZN4PD1-50 to combine 4 IEM antenna?

The 4 way splitter is 50ohm and gives > 20dB isolation between inputs.  Insertion loss appears to be just over 6dB but if used with an LDPA antenna making up that, would the combining to a single antenna be of benefit?

Jason Glass:
It's isolation is a bit low @ 23dB for high power systems, but you might get away with it at low power (=<50mW). It would be best to test it and measure the IMD products with a spectrum analyzer before attempting to use the setup in a critical application.

This model has better specs, both in terms of power handling as a combiner and isolation. That said, an isolator on each each IEM output is strongly recommended.
