Hello All,
Looking for a new multimeter for the gigbox.  Had a fluke 77 for years that is showing its age.
Looking for a small but quality meter for AC/DC/Hz and continuity, temp would be a bonus.
What are you folks using?

Take a look at the Klein meters.  I have been a fan of Fluke meters and own several- but I bought a Klein because I needed  high DC current clamp meter.  I have been impressed with features vs price. Quality is high, mine has a built in NCVT as well as magnet mount that is incredibly useful.

 Iirc price wwas roughly $160 for one close to the top of their line I think it is the CL 2000. Right now it would be my first choice if I could have only one meter handy.

Yeah I have a Klein clone of the fluke and it has been perfectly adequate for my gig bag.

If I did more bench work I might look for a higher end tool.

If you're looking for Fluke quality but want to save a bit of coin, Fluke has a China only model that you can pick up on ebay for 100 bucks. The fluke 12e. There's a few reviews on youtube that break it down and show it's not a chinese knockoff, and has more features than US fluke meters in the same price range.

Second on that Klein.

DC current is pretty cool for working on the motorcycle also.

Most important thing: whatever meter you get make sure it has Cat3 600V inputs; one day you will use the meter to measure high energy sources, like mains power, and this is what you need to avoid the risks of meter explodedness.  Anyone who has had a cheap multi go bang on mains will not recommend repeating the experience.

While I have a Fluke 77 laying around.  My day to day go to meter for the last 15 odd years is a Tektronix handheld.  I went to their site and apparently they don't make handhelds any more, but this thing is small, light, accurate and has survived everything I've thrown at it, or it at.
