Chauvet Obey 70
« on: June 07, 2016, 03:24:52 PM »

I am new to the live lighting rig set up....I have an Obey 70, 3 color strip minis and a Swarm 5 FX. I have been able to muster my way through the TERRIBLE manual for the Obey 70 however I am not finding anything regarding setting up the speed of a chase as you are programming the sequence. Is there a process to make the chase move at a rate I want?? We will not have a light tech to run everything so I will be handling it myself from the stage and need as much simplicity I can get.

Virtually NONE of the lower-cost controllers will allow you to program the speed and fade on a chase. You have to move up to an American DJ/Elation Showdesigner or better to do that.

Much appreciated Duane! This must be why their manuals are so vague!

Yep. With Obey 70 you have the speed fader, tap sync, or music activated chase trigger only.

Yep. Can only adjust during playback, not during programming.

I'd like to ask another question. (too lazy to dig my Obey controller out and experiment)

Does anyone know if you can go back into your chases and add additional fixtures to each step or if you have to start from scratch again and build all new chases if you add more fixtures?

I don't have any specific experience with the Obey series, but it would be pretty simple to modify one of the "scenes" that you used in a chase to see if it also changed the step in the chase.

I have one and use it to just turn on the lights with a preset.  I have programmed some chases and yes, you can modify an existing chase.
