BTW, anyone know what the trailer inspection requirements are?

Someone just told me that annual inspections are required on trailers, even ones that are as small as 4X6 or 5X8.

To my knowledge, that's a State by State thing.  I am not aware of any Federal requirements for trailer inspections.

Correct.  Michigan several years ago went to a "Permanent trailer" plate.  The ultimate buy once, cry once for your trailers.  One and done, no inspections, no renewals.

if you don't already have them,
buddy bearings http://recstuff.com/trailer-accessories/1-98-ez-lube-trailer-hub-dust-cap-grease-cover-trp/?gclid=CNK63bOl-MwCFQ8yaQodUcoFvware good to have on your axles.
fire extinguisher also.
Decades go, after having a wheel come completely off less that 500 miles from the trailer dealer I learned about bearing buddies, have them installed before I take possesion of every new trailer, we trade every 2 years, and yes we get a great deal as there are dozens of trailer companies here in Texas........smart move great advice!

I'm in the middle of prepping for my summer Season and thinking through being on the road for 2+ months solid.  It got me to thinking what does everyone else have for emergency kits in their trailers/trucks.  This is pretty fresh on my mind as we recently had a blowout on one of our new trailers (triple axle gooseneck 40') with less than 6,000 miles on the tires.   I'm sure all of us have had the unexpected happen to us.  What all have you needed?

We carry normal stuff   ie bottle jack, 4 way, portable air compressor, bag of tools, rags, reflectors, Jumper cables etc.

Do yall have a list of emergency items that live on your trailer/truck?     Whats in your emergency kit?      If you want to add your first aide kit list thats fine too.

A must have item......  http://www.ebay.com/bhp/trailer-aid

Inspect your trailer brake system. Make sure it's working properly. Take an extra fuse.

Get good quality receiver and hitch locks if you don't already have those.

I'll second Mark's suggestion for a chunk of plywood (or two).  Also, even with road flares (you have those, right?) I would recommend a handful of chemical glow sticks.  They come in handy for other things too.  I've taped them to snake/AC bundles when there is a possible trip hazard after dark.
