Guitar Center has the 767a for $49.99. Looked on some of the other box stores and it says they are discontinued.

I checked it out.   The used ones cost more than the sale price on the new ones.
Is this a good mic?  If so, this is a great deal.   how does it compare to the Shure 57 or 58 ?

They sound OK. Like any mic, they will suit one person more so than another. They do have good feedback rejection, but I find them to have a sound that I don't always go running to. At that price though they are worth it.

If someone is looking for inexpensive mics, also on guitarcenter currently they have the AKG D 8000M Buy one get one free for $49.99.   Thats two mics for $50.... not sure if they are acceptable quality though...

We have a few at our PAC and I don't care for them at all.  They have a wonky cardioid pattern that seems to get very wide between 4kHz-8kHz.  We have a bunch of nice AKG condensers - C451, C460 and C480, C535 with some matched pairs - but the AKG dynamic mics they own just don't work for me in this facility of installed systems.  Give me SM58 for most speaking/lectern/unknown source uses.

They're good for singers who want a big woofy sound, FM deejay style.  Also work well with screechy female sopranos to take the bite out.

That is my reasoning for my purchase to try and tame two female singers I work with. Heard the suggestion here and just never moved on the 767a until I seen the $50 price tag. Will let you know my opinion of them after the weekend.

They list the normal sell price as $80.
