RF Scans - dramatic example of Venue shielding
Pete Erskine:
These scans are from Andrew Outlaw at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in several of their venues.

Keith Broughton:
When you mention "venue shielding" do you mean the RF reduction due to the basic building or a venue that has a Farday cage as part of the construction?

Usually basic building but hopefully construction of new venues will take note....

Very few venues actually have intentional Faraday shielding, certainly not a low bid job like a convention center. The building can provide significant RF shielding with multiple concrete walls between your mics and the outside world. With Pete's scans, the real surprise is the exhibit hall, which as a large glass wall at one end.
I do work regularly in a building that does have intentional shielding, and there is essentially no outside RF in the auditorium. As well, no inside RF gets outside (the reason for the cage).

I would imagine cell phone repeaters would be necessary then.
