Thanks John. Actually tried that too. The current thinking from Yamaha's tech support is that it's a Windows 10 issue, so I'm scrounging for a Windows 8.1 laptop. I'm more than a little surprised Yamaha hasn't tried the whole QL/CL-Dante-Nuendo Live set-up with a Windows 10 box.

They have. My guess is they can't make it work, either.

1. Turned off the Windows firewall
2. Uninstalled the Avast virus scanner and shields
3. Uninstalled DVS, Controller, Nuendo Live and the Yamaha Console Extension
4. Re-flashed the QL5 firmware (reinstalling v3.11)
5. Reinstalled DVS, Controller, Nuendo Live and the Yamaha Console Extension
No joy. The next step is beg, borrow, or steal another laptop, shut that Windows firewall off, uninstall whatever virus scanner, install DVS, Controller, Nuendo Live and the Yamaha Console Extension, and importune all the gods for a favorable result. If that works, then my current laptop becomes the hopped-up bookkeeping machine. Woooo.

WRT Windows firewall, Steve MacAtee at Rane told me once (while troubleshooting a connectivity/control issue with one of their boxes) that turning Windows firewall off, doesn't really turn it all the way off. In that instance, the fix was to go into Win firewall and enter two Rane programs under the exception list. In your case I have no idea what the programs would be (in my case, it wasn't DragNet, but two underlying programs), but this might at least be a line of inquiry to pursue.
Good luck, and remember, they're not consoles...just computers with faders and pretty lights on the front and XLR's on the back.
Best,
Ike

Up and running correctly on a Windows 8.1 laptop after re-flashing the Dante firmware. Still have to have Windows firewall turned off, even with all the Dante apps and Nuendo Live explicitly named in the firewall exception list. Happy dance.
