AMX/Crestron
« on: March 23, 2016, 11:02:45 PM »

I have a 2 projectors that I want to use ethernet remote control on that work with AMX and/or Crestron.  Nothing complex-is there an entry level app or software that doesn't require delving into a bunch of programming?  A lot of what I see seems to be overkill for my application.  This is volunteer for a on-profit and with our location I am looking at probably a full day just to get a tech on site for something that shouldn't be hard.

Is it mandatory that it's AMX or Crestron?

Are you looking for a dedicated wall panel, or will an iOS app work?

URC, Bitwise, and RTI all have solutions for this that will be more cost effective, and much easier to program, than Crestron.

Crestron Pyng is their entry-level system, but it's geared more towards residential systems.

An iOS app would be fine.  The only reason I mention those names is the projector tells me it is compatible with those.  Admittedly, I am jumping into water that is over my head-but that is usually the way I learn the fastest!

All I really need to do is turn the projectors on and off-though being able to occasionally tweak the setup would be nice.

If all you need is on/off then a script that sends the correct code to the projectors address is all you need.  Just set a link to run the script when clicked.  A search for your projector brand and model should result in some info.  How it is going to work really depends on what you have.

Keep in mind you may need to install some 3rd party software, such as telnet and a scripting tool, to make this work.  You may also need to make some setting changes in the projector.
