So he's an A-hole, listening with his preconceived notions.

Good to know I'm not the only one thinking that.

He's pissed cause we use him in one of our rooms when we get bands in. Now that my show is done, we want to use our system and cut back on rental costs.

It's a104' x 104' x 30' room and he insists that my speakers which he's never heard and knows nothing about won't cut it.
His system is an 8 box a side JBL 4887 which has sounded okay in there with the right operator or painful with the wrong one.

I had an argument about speaker quality today. He put down my SH96HO's. His argument was that it's not a line array and they're front loaded boxes with a couple of 4" speakers and a horn.
It didn't go well after that.

There is nothing front loaded about the SH96-It is ALL hornloaded-on a single horn.

The 4"s (there are 6) are loaded on large horn that gives them LOTS of gain-Much more than you would get with front loaded box with many more drivers.

In fact-the 4" are probably the strongest part of the cabinet (in other words-the last to fail in usage).

They are just "loafing along".

We are PROUD it is not a line array.

Danley can't help what is written by others.

Danley uses 5" drivers is some other models and 6.5" in the higher output models.  In the case of the 96 and 96Ho it is 4" drivers.

The choice of the driver depends a lot on the angle of the horn.  In order to get the mid driver close enough to the HF do there is not interference, sometimes a smaller driver HAS to be used.

Other times the low freq cutoff of the HF driver makes a difference. 

As usual-it depends.

The 4-5 and 6" mids are the drivers that simply don't go bad   Or let's say-the problems are practically non existent.

I would have to check with the guys that build it, but I believe it is a heated glue of some type.
