I have a lighting guy with a dual com headset that he puts on over ear buds that are taking a feed from a monitor send to hear the singer announce wild card songs.
Very uncomfortable!

My thought is to make an adapter that would connect to the output of the com pack and pass com to the left headset only and have another connector to allow the monitor feed to be injected to the right side.
This would require a 5 pin headset and I'm not sure that is available .
Is there a com beltpack that allows for local audio input?

Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

What kind of comm system? What model belt pack? RTS BP325 has an aux input on the pack.

Plenty of them do.
RS-702, RS-703, most remote stations (rackmount)...

Our LD uses a little $50 mixer allowing him to mix in the COM signal with Program sound in stereo into his IEMs and uses a headset mic for talking.

What kind of comm system? What model belt pack? RTS BP325 has an aux input on the pack.

My bad...I should have mentioned it's a Clear Com system.
I am trying to do this while not directly involved with the gig so ...more info needed from the tour.

You could break the headphone pins out from the headsets cable to 2 pcs. XLR/jack and then give him a small mixer so he can mix what he hears in his headsets.

So upon getting further info, we have a solution. Turns out he has to call spots and really likes his Bose noise cancelling ear buds.
A light weight com headset ( Clear Com CC-27) with a connection of pin 3-4 (headset speaker connection)of the FM 4 pin  to the left channel of a Behringer P1 .
The monitor mix is fed into the right channel and the P1 drives the guys Bose buds.
He can have the inputs split left and right or select "mono" and blend them into both buds.

I've had to solve so many versions of this issue for myself over the years that i finally sprung for a Studio Technologies Model 233 Announcer's station.  Takes all versions of analog Comm in and provides a wide variety of ways to inject other audio sources and route them in different ways.  Hurt to write the check, but i've been happy ever since.

I did look at the announcer station but was able to put this solution together very economically.Headset and pack for under $200 USD
Also, the heaset and pack work with any standard 4 pin com pack and packs small and light for flying.
