When embracing the dlp technology over lcd keep in mind that eg. a 5K lumens lcd projector will be brighter than a 5K lumens dlp projector when displaying anything but white light. So an actual image/photo from the lcd engine will be brighter.
If you plan to use it for moving imagery (video), also keep in mind that many dlp projectors produce image artefacts on video. Some people are so sensitive to this that it becomes painfull for them to watch the projected image.
Our church have bought a number of Nec projectors over the last couple of years, and they have all been rock solid. I know many professional AV-installers hold Nec projectors in high regard.

The image artifacts on DLP that you refer to is the rainbow color effect. It occurs on single-chip DLP projectors using traditional lamps since they employ a spinning color wheel. It does not happen on single chip DLP projectors using LED or laser light source, nor does it happen on 3-chip DLP projectors.
