HDMI over Cat/6 from Macpro to 6 LED TV's Help
« on: March 20, 2016, 05:15:20 am »

I'm trying to determine the best way to extend my HDMI over CAT6 to 6 individual TVs. The software splits the video across the TVs but don't know what the right splitter/extender gear I should go with as this is a new area for me. If anyone can help Id be much appreciative. The max distance from Video card to TV would be under 100'. Thanks.

Not sure what you mean....are you trying to do a video wall?

If you just need to show the same (full size) image on several TV's....

Yea it's basically a wall. It's live event video. All the monitors are one big image space. I could have different images or one big one:) I have 6 separate outs from the back of my computer that have to go Cat6 to 6 LED monitors. Not one video out duplicated onto 6 TVs.

So I basically need one to one extension X6 if  there's a unit that does that or separate units.

So what are the 6 separate outputs from the computer?
What format signal, not necessarily what connector.

You can use HD Base T products like those from monoprice, I find they work well.  There are also cheaper Balun type products which also work but over shorter distances.

If I was setting this up, I would want HD sdi outputs, and then convert to HDMI at the display end.  I just find it more reliable/convenient and the sdi cable to be more robust in a production environment.

Only problem is if you run into content or hardware that requires HDCP compliance...I vote for HDBaseT first, then HD-SDI, etc.

Yes I suppose if you don't have a magic dongle to remove/spoof the hdcp... Then HD Base T is the way to go.

Could be up to 1080p but we will run 720p or SD480. Whichever works best.

No more than 100ft. Probably more like around 50' average depending on stage area and event.
