UHF TV Band Spectrum in Monaco
« on: May 07, 2016, 09:27:48 PM »

Any of our European brethren familiar with the UHF-TV spectrum in the Monaco? What frequency range(s) is/are available for wireless mics?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Henry

When do you need this for and how much bandwidth?

I'm probably there first weekend of July.  50/50 whether I'll get a site visit on this job.

If it helps, the jobs I've done along the Riviera in the past few years (Antibes/St Tropez etc), I always have 600MHz upwards kit, and have had no issues running 20+ channels.

Best,

Thank you Mark. Do you know the status of the 700MHz band there?

This is needed I think about a month from now and less than a dozen channels, though I believe the provider's inventory is 700MHz splits.

Is there some reason this information would not be interesting to the rest of the community?

Hi Henry,

out of curiosity, I went to do a Postal Code Lookup for Monaco in Wireless Workbench. I knew already WWB6 has France data, but didn't know about Italy, as Monaco being really close to both countries. What I found is way to surreal to be explained by words:

If Italy data is accurate, Monaco is a tough one...

France data is still similar to November 2014. The next image has a scan from Nice, which is France biggest town close to Monte Carlo. Seems there are a couple new occupied channels now.

Italy has the lead in number of occupied TV channels. My home Country, Portugal has the least occupied TV spectrum in Europe. This is a graph with only national channels (no local, no regional)

Barcelona, where I live, is preety much packed, except for the 700Mhz band which soon will be taken from us: second digital dividend and all. Still not as bad as the US after the auction your country is about to undertake...

Hope this sheds some light. Send pictures of your scans in Monaco.

Cheers

D

I was in Monaco on Monday for a site visit, and managed to take a quick scan or two.

I was having trouble with the battery in the PSA, so I haven't managed to get any data transferred over, but basically the noise floor at 1pm on Monday overlooking the harbour on the northern side was about -64dBm and looked completely clear from about 500 up to 900MHz where I started to see a few spikes.

Lots of production going up for the Grand Prix at the weekend, but too early for anyone to be transmitting anything other than comms.

I'm sure Henry will do a more thorough sweep when he visits.

Oh, how I wish that were the case. Alas, I'm merely the remote consultant.

Thank you for your information Mark; much appreciated.

I did see a screenshot of somebody's scan from Monaco a while back. It's pretty much what WWB6 says it will be.
