Location interface
« on: January 08, 2016, 09:01:33 AM »

I am a pro location sound recordist working in video & film.

Things are getting smaller and lighter, so I'm looking for news ways to do things.

One of them would be to use a Smartphone with Android as a high quality audio recorder.

Let's forget about the 1/8" audio input, because its quality is very poor, no matter what you feed into it.

Input has to be via the micro-USB interface, and you also need an Android program that will control level setting, VU levels, filtering, etc.

I looked into the web, and found very little. The is a unit, but it's quite expensive and I'm not sure about the quality.

Some people are using portable recorders, like Zoom, as such interface. Which is a more affordable way to solve it.

You need an USB output you can use.

Well, I wonder if someone here has tried anything of the kind and what were the results.
