RTS TW Headset Impedance
« on: November 09, 2015, 03:51:45 PM »

We've just purchased some Peltor headsets ( http://www.canford.co.uk/Products/54-3882_PELTOR-MT7H79A-HEADSET-Ear-defending-with-5-pin-male-XLR) for use with our BP325 and BTR825 packs, and are having issue with the level that either pack is able to drive the headset to. The volume is almost unusably quiet with the pack volume cranked to max. I can hear the headphone amp in the pack beginning to distort. The impedance of the Peltors is 230 ohms. Our standard headset is the Sennheiser HMD280 at 64 Ohms which can obviously be driven substantially louder.

Are other people using this style of headset with RTS TW packs successfully? The spec sheet for the BP325 shows that the 230 ohm impedance is within spec but the performance is not meeting our expectations.

Check if the ear pieces are wired in series, though 230 ohms is a bit high.

Unfortunately no series wiring, the five pin XLR has both ears return on pin 3, left ear on pin 4 and right ear on pin 5.
