Suggest a pedal-sized mic preamp/eq
« on: October 28, 2015, 12:03:42 pm »

Im investing in a DJ controller and the mic input is a simple 1/4" unbalanced input with a volume control and nothing more. Can anyone suggest a mic preamp/eq that is maybe the size of a guitar pedal or DI box that I can throw in the controller case along with the controller? I could easily just use a different mixer but am looking for a one box solution for playback.

Thanks in advance.

How about getting or building an XLR-F to 1/4" mic cable?

The cable part is easy. The main feature I'm looking for is 3-band eq at least.

- XLR input, 1/4" and/or XLR out.
- phantom power (nice to have if I used the BETA87)
- 3 band EQ (must have)
- low cut filter

Whirlwind makes a nice 10 band (I have put these inside lecterns that get moved around for AA and other itinerant gatherings at HOW's) if that is too spendy MXR makes one for about $100 and Uli's brings up the rear with a 7 bander for a whopping $25.00
