Check out the Danish Remic D5400LB, its a new way to mic your upright. It sounds great and have a great isolation, so you can have alot of monitoring

So what?  The OP asked about mics.  The pick up described might be the greatest pick up since the Mesozoic but it's not a mic and won't sound like a mic.  In the face of high stage levels a combination of the two may be a good choice but if you want the sound of a mic you don't use a pick up.

It's what the player has and prefers to use...

We started using Countyman I2's with the cello/bass mount. It's not a dpa but it's not the money of either. First time we had them out I cued up the channels and they all sounded so clean. You could hear every note being played. Now, the musicians in the symphony see the mics and put them on themselves willingly. (It was a 10 year process to get mics on instruments. The contract states that the musicians must bring their best instrument to shows)
