This is not intended to be a political statement in spite of the political terminology-it seems like there are a lot of people that think the establishment or government is in a conspiracy to keep them from getting all they can out of electricity or to make them spend more money. When it comes to safety, it only makes sense to heed the guidelines published by OSHA and the NFPA-it could be you that pays the price.
You may be correct, but I think that many people have come to expect that the government, large companies, ETC will protect them. A example is a local park with a deep gorge running through it. Every year some one is found clinging to a tree half way down and when pulled out and asked why they walked over the side they often say "there was no fence so I assumed it was safe."
Personal responsibility is the key.
