Will pink noise damage system speaker components
« on: August 28, 2015, 07:27:37 AM »

When measuring individual sound system components; can you measure each component without high pass or lo pass filters? Could this damage highs, mids, or lows?

Thanks,
Bill

Yes and no.

It depends on how much level you are providing to the components.

It is mostly not having a highpass that will do actual damage.

Without having any sort of number to back this up-I would say that you should be safe driving 10% rated power without a crossover.

The woofers won't care-mids might care a little, but it is the HF that will care the most about not having a HP filter.

But in many cases that will be pretty loud.

That's kind of what I figured.
