Sennheiser N antenna cables, watchout
« on: July 26, 2015, 03:39:59 PM »

Just found an Aircell 7 HF cable with N connectors from Sennheiser with the centerpin too far forward. It has caused 2 broken connectors on our Sennheiser 9000 antennas, watch out...

Thanks for the info!

I harp on the guys that I work with constantly about extended and retracted coax pins.  I'm sure that they're tired of hearing about it from me.

A picture of the correct position on the center pin would help me the novice.
Could someone please post a correct pin for comparison ?

This is a problem with all air dielectric coax (Belden 9913, Wireman CQ102, etc): The repeated coiling and uncoiling causes the center conductor to walk. Especially bad on shorter cables. This type of coax was never designed for repeated deployments. I'll bet the other end of Jens' coax had the pin recessed too far into the connector.

In this case it was just bad manufactoring, both ends was too far forward.
