smaart I-O
« on: July 12, 2015, 09:24:15 PM »

Looking at using smaart 7 to tune system and was hoping for a cheaper alternative to rationals smaart I-O or octa-capture. Would be using single mic.  Is there something you can recommended that would work?

As much as I hate to admit it, the Behringer UMC202 works very well-no software-just plug it in and go.

Thanks, did see Mackie onyx but this maybe great option and I run M32 so pre's are a plus.

I was looking into the Behringer unit based off your previous review....but the other reviews from Amazon are a real turn off....

All I can say is that it works fine for me-no software hassles and does what I need it to do.

I got one (figuring I could just throw it away if it wasn't any good) after 2 of my sound devices USB pres died.

I still use my MOTU 8pre for mutli measurements, but the UMC202 is much smaller and travels easier and sits on my desk not taking up room.

Of course some people have problems with everything-so they take issue and get vocal about things that are actually not the products fault.

I just bought the UMC404 and it works just fine.

I just bought a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, works brilliantly.

Just bought the ART USBDualPre, on bench testing (headphones for acoustic, dual iso transformer for lines) it worked great, just needed ASIO4all drivers. Probably going to build/buy a pair of 20db pads for the XLR inputs though.

I use a Roland Duo Capture EX, it appears to be the unit Behringer ripped off this time... I thought they said they'd stopped that sort of thing...

I've had no issues with it, aside from confusing myself when I didn't check the direct monitor switches on the back, I've gaffed over everything but the 48V since.

It's nice and solidly built, runs off USB power and isn't any bigger than it needs to be.
