DBx Venu360 vs PA+
« on: June 17, 2015, 11:02:30 PM »

Has anyone used the new Venu360 processor? Would be interested in a general product report as well as specific comparisons to the PA+ regarding EQ filter, AutoEQ, and general sound quality.

Probably will be moved to lounge. Haven't used the VENU360 but ran a rig once with a PA+ and in all honesty I ran it as a glorified crossover, didn't care for the AutoEQ, delay, or comp as I had a dedicated GEQ and I didn't want the mix to suffer under the comp.

I would imagine that the VENU360 will outperform the PA+ in every aspect as it is a supposed replacement to the DR260. The mobile platform to control it sounds really neat though, it could replace my old Rane GEQ.

I also have one on the way.  If it is ONLY as good as the 260, but with the added 3rd input I will be ecstatic.   Plus, it costs less than the 260.

Two different classes of device.  A better comparison would be the PA2 to the PA+ or the 260 to the 360.  Unless you have a budget issue, get the 360.

A few months ago I was just going to get a 260 used then I saw at nam it was being introduced - I was sold - 7 x the processing power and iPad control- I am dying to here it with my srx725s and srx718's - I'm currently running a beringer dcx2496 - I don't like the gui much- the 360 will have the presets - so it should be awesome

I hope not the lower price of the 360 is reflected in the sound quality.
Waiting for someone to report...

You can't compare a 360 to the 4800. The 4800 is in a whole different league. You can compare the 260 and the 360. The 360, based on specs alone, should be a more capable and better sounding DSP. However, I never had a problem with the 260's I've owned, and can't say anything bad about the sound of the 260 or it's capabilities.

The DR260 is the minimum DSP I'll use. I have them for my monitor systems. It's been about eight years (or more) since I've had to buy one new.

The 360 looks nice tho.
