Beyer TG V70d?
« on: June 04, 2015, 06:29:29 PM »

Hi,

Does anyone on here have any experience with the Beyer TG V70d live vocal mic?

http://europe.beyerdynamic.com/shop/tg-v70d-s-2.html?SID=db24c83c4705d3431abc0ac9d7ca6f73&___store=en&___from_store=usa_en

I've just heard it on this mic shootout with the SM58, Beta 58, Heil PR35, Telefunken M80, Earthworks SR40v, Neumann KSM105, Sennheiser E965 and a few other Beyer Mics. I really liked how this mic sounded in this clip.

Whilst this is not a substitute for trying the mic in various live situations on a variety of vocalists it did sound pretty good in this scenario.

Has anyone tried/used this mic in a live situation?

I've tried a bunch of different mics on the female vocalist I predominantly work with (both dynamic and condenser), and I landed on the TG V70d about 2 years ago. I haven't tried anything else since.

The sound does have characteristics typically associated with a condenser, with a more detailed top end response. I haven't had any feedback issues, even on some very tight stages, and it handles her very dynamic vocals without distortion or the tone changing.

The rest of the band is on beta 58's...
