U2 tour sound
« on: May 14, 2015, 09:17:51 AM »

The Edge said they were very happy with the new speaker system they have which will see the sound coming from the roof on top of the audience instead of directly from the stage. “I think it will give us the best sound we ever heard.”

As opposed to "Bono in mono" on the biggest "art school" design of S4?

It was because of that system (and the lack of clarity) that I have my current job and Danley is in business.

"Back in the day" (on that tour) they were using the ServoDrive subs.

Tom Danley was invited out as a guest.

At one point in the show, the band was not playing-the audience was quiet and Bono was talking to the crowd.

Tom said he could barely make out (understand) what was being said.

At that point, he started moving his focus from subs to full range cabinets-saying to himself "There MUST be a better way to make it sound clearer".

So his quest began-first with getting an understanding of what would be causing the problem-then looking for a different way to do it/fix it.  And with lots of various previous products and the knowledge gained from them-after a few company and owner changes, he hooked up with Mike (who I already worked for) and here we are :)

All those magnets up there aren't to make good sound.  They are there to attract money from people's pockets.  The U2 system works just fine.

So, anyone curious about how they're gonna rig this thing? And line it up? Are they taking it to the next logical step and building a shopping center at every venue?
