It is not just switching between different brands, but also different model number within the same brand.

Very often different models (even in the same line) have different gains.

Unless there is a setting for a "common gain" such as 26dB.

Which is why Crown (the first to do it if I remember correctly) did that.

So you could swap out a 600 watt amp for a 5000 watt amp (or vice versa) and the sound would stay the same-assuming the amps are not clipping.

All my QSCs have the same gain. I could pull a 1602 out and substitute a 3402 with no DSP change.

I have come up with and saved presets in my Driveracks for every type of setup I run to keep things performing as consistent as possible no matter what sub amp I am running.

Isn't this kind of moot with aux fed subs? It's just a level difference on a fader.

You're assuming they are running Aux fed subs. If your sensitivity is different your processing will be a little different and your limiting won't translate.
