Picture Dropout
« on: March 09, 2015, 03:45:04 pm »

Hi all,
I have encountered a problem using hdmi over cat extenders.
On some occasions, when the homeowner turns on the lights, the picture drops for a few seconds.
I have tried swapping the cheap extenders to more reliable ones (wyrestorm, kramer) which seem to be more resistant to the spike and indeed in some of the rooms the issue went away. However in some rooms the problem still exists. Obviously they are effected by some transient. All of the extenders are powered by power supplies with no ground pin.
Any ideas on how to isolate them?
