iPad Based mixing w/SFX
« on: March 02, 2015, 02:36:52 PM »

Do any of the Behringer/Mackie/Etc. iPad based mixing systems allow for easily cued FX/playback from the iPad during performance?

I would hope they would, but this isn't my typical end o' the market...

Thanks...

The Airport Express router/WAP supports iPad AirPlay.  You connect to your console via a 3.5mm jack.  I don't know about playing back triggered cues, but I use it with my Qu desk to stream break and test music.

Do you mean mixers in the sub-$10k range? The GLD has MIDI I/O and softkeys on the app.

I would like to be able to hand-off a limited-menu tablet to arts-ed staff that allows only level/mute and cue functions.

You can use Airplay to play music from the iPad to the mixer through the Airport. However, for SFX, the latency could be an issue.

There are iPad apps available that would do what you want, but may require a hard connection to get the detail needed for SFX.

Not without switching to another app on the iPad.

The new Mackie DL32R iPad app allows you to play back tracks remotely from the iPad. Musicians can trigger click tracks or backing tracks from an iPad on stage, or a FOH person can do it also from an iPad. Same with break music. All this is done within the Master Fader app itself. You just need a USB hard drive containing the material connected to the mixer. Mackie has youtube videos online that show the various features and functions.

Seems to be what I am looking for. Off to RTFM!
