Hello All, Firstly i would like to say i am by no means a expert with lighting. My question is, I would like to use a DMX Splitter to go from a center truss to other pieces of truss on the left and right side of the center one. Rather than running a cable to one side and then back over the center one to the other side i was thinking of using a Splitter on the center truss and then the 2 data cables can go directly to the other sides.



is this something that would work?

It will work.
However, you now have an active piece of equipment in the air and if it fails, you are toast.
Another way to do this is home run DMX from each truss to the floor and split in a location where you can trouble shoot, if required.

Meh - terminators are over rated.  I have been toured all over the world, and run hundreds dmx devices in the various theaters I manage.  I've never had a problem that a terminator fixed.  If you use fully dmx complaint fixtures and use quality dmx cable, you should be fine.

Having to run it back down to the floor would be too many cables, as it is since the splitters on the truss i have to run a
Edison extension cable to power to it. As for the termination i was planning to use a terminator on each split. I'm sure it wont hurt.
