Midas Pro2/Yamaha M7CL/Midas DL251 & Klark DN9650 Network Bridge
« on: February 19, 2015, 03:41:22 PM »

Ok, I need someone smarter than me to answer a question for me.  Can I do the following:

Midas Pro2 at FOH - AES50 from stage
Yamaha M7CL-48 w/3 Dante cards at monitors
Midas DL251 48 channel snake
Klark DN9650 or DN9652 Network Bridge

Can I run this system totally digitally after I hit the DL251 without any foreseeable problems?  I might also need to run the M7 at house and the Pro2 for monitors.  I would prefer to use the Midas DL251 instead or the Yamaha Rios, but I am concerned about the amount of gain I would have on the M7.

Thanks for your input.

Hello Bill,

Kyle with MIDAS here. The only thing I would wonder is if you would have "gain" to the M7 via the Dante network? Most of the time that is just a line level operation. But, Yes, The configuration you have is correct.

It would be better to add a DL431 Mic splitter, and go copper to the M7. This would allow you to send the Yamaha real MIDAS head amp gain. Of corse, this would require a copper snake for the Yamaha side of the split. Then it would also move the MIDAS desk to FOH and let everyone hear the goodness, instead of just the band at MON world.  ;)

Hope this helps.

Kyle, thanks for the reply.  How about if I went first to my analog split snake and took one split to the M7 at monitors and then to the other and plugged it into the DL251?  At that point I should have real gain off of the M7 and the Pro2 would work great with the DL251...I think.

You are correct, that would work perfectly.
