Dead Yamaha ethersound MY16-es64??? Need advice!!
« on: February 14, 2015, 03:23:36 PM »

Hi there,

just bought a used yamaha MY16-es64 with a MY16-EX.

I wanted to test them in my LS9-32. When i check in the slot setup i see in slot 2 the MY16-EX but nothing in slot 1 where my MY16-es64 is plugged... The LS9 give a sync error too on the MY16-EX card... In this setup is it the LS9 that is the clock master??

Try to see the card via Auvitran AVS-Monitor and nothing there too...

It is possible to check the card without SB168?? (I buy them later)

When i plug the MY16-es64 to my laptop via the ethersound input cat5 connector on the card my laptop connect to the card via my ethernet card. (limited network)

When the card is not connected to a SB168 it is normal that no TX/RX LED blink?

LS9 firmware : 1.33
AVS-Control panel: 4.2.8.264
MY16-es64 firmware : unknow... (where i can see that??)

Thanks a lot for your advice!
Fred

Your cards are probably not set up correctly, check out the user manual for more info

Do you speak about the 5 onboard switch?? (They are where they should be!)

So 2 question :

1- With a working MY16-es64 are you suppose to see in setup/wordclock MY16-es64 in slot 1?

2- It is possible with AVS-Monitor to see the card even if i haven't sb168 on the network? (MY16-es64 in slot 1 and MY16-EX in slot 2)

Thanks a lot for your help guys it's very appreciated!!

Already had this pdf... I tryed everything i can!!

I just want to test the card but for now i don't have sb168..

So 2 question :

- It is normal when a MY16-es64 is inserted in a LS9-32 to see nothing in the slot1? (Slot 2 where the MY16-EX are inserted show a MY16-AT but from what i've read it's normal..)

- Can you connect to the card via AVS-Monitor when the card is not plugged to SB168??

Thanks!

Frederic,
I would suggest that you try the cards one at a time to see if the problem is the card or if it is a problem having both cards in the board at the same time. If they work individually then the problem is a configuration or compatibility issue. Once you know this then the road to success will become apparent, and that road will lead to Yamaha, the reseller, or the instruction manual.

Did you check your rack and ensure you selected it?

Rack?

If the card is not showing up it isn't working. It should not need any other hardware to mount on the console.

Yeah this what i think! Inserting the MY16-es64 in the ls9 slot 1 and powering up the ls9 you should see a card in the slot 1 in setup/slot setup?

I read that the card should pop as a MY16-AT? (The board doesn't show the card as a MY16-es64... True???)

Thanks a lot for your advice guy!

That all depends on how you have the various switches set on the card.

How about updating your LS9 firmware? You mentioned yours is 1.33, there is a 1.35 now.

Have you read through this?

And tried linking with AVS-ESMonitor?
Does the card get power but you just don't see it in the slot of the LS9?

As i say the switch are where they supposed to be (as i wrote their setting in last message)

Just inserting the card in slot 1, power up the ls9 and see nothing in the slot...

Try to connect via avs monitor without success but i see that the card have power because the card came warm and when i connect with my laptop a limited network connection happen so the network side of the card is workin.. (From what i can understand!)

Frederic, do the LED's on the MY es64 card blink when you connect your computer to it? They should.
Card getting warm is probably just heat transfer from the console.
Also, have you tried to put it in Slot 2?

If you speak about Tx/Rx LED on the Ethersound input cat5 connector no matter what i've done they never blinked...

Normally with these card in the console without being plugged to ehtersound device they are suppose to blink or they just not blink when not plugged..

As i say it's strange because my laptop can make a limited network connection when connected to the card...

they should blink when connected to any network or computer. Did you try to put it in Slot 2?

Ok, so here is the first sign of a dead card? :-(

The switch setup on my card is ok?? (in earlier message)

Do i have something special to do with my laptop or all i have to do is like i do just connect the card (ethersound input connector) with a network cable (standart network cable) to my ethernet port on my laptop. I stand 1-2min the time for my laptop to detect and connect to the card via a limited network connectivity..

No blinking LED at all on the console..

Try with AVS-Monitor to connect=nothing.. Nothing with Ethersound Audio Select and Ethersound Init device software too...
