wave guides and crossovers

If I have waveguides that load my driver down to 1,200hz and the driver itself is rated at 500hz, would they sound bad or be easy to blow if I cross them at 800?

The 800hz waveguides are on backorder but I want to do some testing before they get in.

It will be like a bass reflex and the frequencies below the port tuning.  It is not as efficient and you will need more power to make the levels equal between 800 and 2.4K  Using more power will mean that you have better chances to overheat and destroy the driver.
