Mac's question was specifically about the assertion that _bridging_ led to more "cone control".
Bridging actually gives less "cone control".
The damping factor goes in half-because the two output stages are in series with each other-so the internal resistance is double.
Since Damping factor is the ratio of output impedance to load impedance-when you double the output impedance (and keep the load impedance the same) the damping factor is half of that of a single channel.
But of course in reality, the damping factor alone is usually swamped by the actual resistance of the speaker connector and the wire hooking the speaker up.
But most people don't want to believe that-and get hung up on a "simple number" that is only PART of the overall equation in the "sound game".
