www.thetapeworks.com

+1 for Harrison Brothers (www.thetapeworks.com)

Their newer website is a little easier to navigate, but I usually just call.

I just go to Guitar Center, tell them I want to pay $18/roll for 4" tape, and if I buy enough of it (say 10 rolls) they usually play along. Not quite 50% off the list price, but pretty close. Tells you the kind of margins on this stuff.

Cheers,

Accessories and supplies are where music stores make their profit.  A guy gets an SM-58 for about $10 over dealer cost... how the hell does a store stay open on that margin?  They sell the mic stand for $50 and make $20 on it, make $5 or $10 on a mic cable...

That's also why a good salesman will try to load up a customer with supplies and accessories at the time of original sale.  It helps his commission substantially.

Prices are decent but for small orders shipping charges seem out of proportion to the order cost at both of those online sources. Someone had posted a source for gaffer tape with much lower shipping costs, I searched the old forum and couldn't find it.

Of course. And that's why you can usually talk them down. Especially if you've bought a bunch of those $50 mic stands already and they know you :-)
