That sounds like a lot neater method than the sky hooks I have been using.

I just bought two of them. This will be the coolest thing to hit our theatre since, well...gaff tape itself.

In the navy GAF(F) has an entirely different meaning. Often used in a sentence such as "I'm having a GAF(F) attack."

For this:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s48zbU4fT60

It uses proprietary Gaffers tape but they're making adapters to accommodate standard tape as well.  It's kind of pricey IMO but looks like it'll save a ton of time and inconvenience.

They have those at the World Congress Center.. Pretty slick..Did a couple of shows there early this year and they taped everything down..

We used to have a home
Made one of these at the theater here in Gainesville, Fl (really does come with swamp land). We called it the weasel. That was a Godsend when laying Marley for dance shows

I work at a theater -- we dress cables constantly. I use a simple technique to get a straight line and it doesn't take that long.

1) Tape down the first end of the cable in an appropriate location with a small tab perpendicular to the cable run.
2) Pull cable straight in the appropriate position.
3) Tab on the other end of cable (again perpendicular to the cable run). You now have a straight cable affixed to the ground.
4) Run a piece of tape the length of the cable. (having a helper stick their foot on it helps)

Works pretty well for me.

I lived in Gainesville for a couple of years in around 84.  Came back in 93 and stayed to 95.  Lived in Haile Plantation.  I love the town.
