Hi folks, new here so please forgive me if this is in the wrong section.
Just bought a non working Sennheiser md 431 and am attempting to fix it. First problem is I cant get inside it. This is the older Profipower model and is unswitched.
I have unscrewd the full basket section from the top of the shaft. This reveals an aluminium barrel section inserted in the shaft, on top of which is the capsule on a shock mount. I have unscrewed the only screw at the top of the shaft which appears to hold the barrel section in. This allows the barrel section to rotate but it will not come out. It feels as though there is something else holding it in. Any suggestions?
Next matter that concerns me is that the xlr pins protrude from the bottom of the shaft by approx 5mm. This doesn't look right and I haven't seen any pics of other 431s like this.
