Calzone case company
« on: October 13, 2014, 11:24:35 AM »

Six (6) months ago I placed a very detailed request for a specially designed case with Calzone. Today, 5 minutes ago, I was called and asked if I still needed the case, etc.. My reply was to the point. "No I don't need the case and went to another manufacturer. I won't recommend Calzone again, and there is nothing you can do to help me now or in the future. Goodbye." click

Sadly, this is nothing new. Years ago I wanted something from them and I got a drawn out run-around.

Good to know.  Unfortunate, as well.
I'm guessing they're in another price tier, but L&M Case really did a perfect and timely job for me.

On the other hand, both of my bigger mixers are in Calzone cases. I like the cases.
For my GLD, I asked if I could pick it up to save shipping costs. No problem. I drove down and they carefully put it in the back of my pickup (after giving the case one more wipe down and laying cardboard in the truck to protect the case).

Bob, sorry you had a bad experience.

I would hope at this point, Calzone sees this, and sends Bob something, a free case or whatever. They have a great opportunity to effect some damage control and spin a bad situation in to a positive outcome.

Sadly very few companies go above and beyond to fix their mistake. It seems a lot of them give the screw you attitude anymore....

The hard part is finding a company (any company) that will see you as a customer and not a consumer.  If a company bends over backwards to take care of you... you are a customer.

Hope this isn't hijacking the thread, but what case company do you all recommend.  I need a speaker case.

All my cases are made by Clydesdale, great cases and they are close enough that I can drive to pick them up.

I have quite a few cases from Wilson Case, but they gave me the runaround last time I needed something. That might be because I needed it at an unrealistic price point though. The cases I did buy from them are built really well, including the mic stand case that I currently have 50 tripod booms and 8 round base straight stands in. It's 22.5 x 45 on the outside so it packs well. It took some engineering to get that many stands in that small of a space, and it's awesome.

R&R didn't seem to want to sell me any cases. I won't be calling them back, sadly, since I love their work.

Opti-Case built a few cases for me years ago, they were fantastic to deal with.

I bought 4 cases, 2 workboxes and 2 16U shock racks, from Indy Case a while back and they were great to deal with. They didn't cut my mic foam quite exactly the way I drafted it, but I'm sure that had to do with the foam not being able to support the holes being as close together as I wanted. I really like the design of their workboxes and racks. A company I work with has 2 truck-pack sized (30x45) dual-door cases that hold 6 wedges each, 3 over 3 standing on their sides. The wedges slide in from the front. Pretty slick.

If Audiopile sells cases that fit your speakers, that's going to be the cheapest way to get it done. The cases are built really well for being imports, but they're not as nice as a "real" case, and they tend to be a lot heavier than a custom case. You can't beat the price though.

I don't have any speaker cases but the 3 4u and 3u cases and MixWiz case I got from EWI are all well made and solid.

I recently had good, rush service from Slamhammer who made me a custom case for a GLD112.  They have some nice lightweight (non-plywood) material that shaves a few pounds.  Workmanship and materials were excellent. Service was very good. Did what they said they would, delivered on time and I was in a rush.
