Recording Thunderbolt HD's.
« on: October 04, 2014, 06:29:34 pm »

Has anyone found a somewhat decently priced Thunderbolt HD that has a secondary Thunderbolt so you can daisy chain? Been racking my brain on this thing called the Internet looking. Found a few at $650.00+ I know that USB 3.0 has a high enough data transfer rate, but none of my Mac's have a USB 3.0

Get one of these, then plug in any USB3 or other type of hard drive that you want. Much cheaper to use USB3 drives.

Unless you are recording an astronomical number of tracks at very high sample rates, you're not going to saturate the USB3 throughput capabilities. And if you did, the disk itself would not be able to keep up.

Lacie drives work very well.  The D2 single drives do have dual thunderbolt ports.
