If the next gig is another DJ, back away from the speaker cabinet and leave it as it is.

I no longer believe the DJ had much to do with it. Before the show, the singer told me one of my speakers was distorting (intermittent). I had this same comment from someone a few weeks earlier, but it was fine when I got up close to listen to it. I made sure the limiter was not lighting up while the DJ ran it. It was loud and low at times, but not beyond the capabilities of the box IMO.

I've got a new speaker coming, so all is well. I'll report back after I install it. My old speaker will be going to a shop, where hopefully they will be able to answer the "what happened".
