Technomad Speakers
« on: February 11, 2015, 12:17:58 AM »

Anybody used any of there speakers for a permanent outdoor application? All the Testimonials that I've read praise them but I recently read from a technician that they have seen them fail being permanently installed outdoors.  Just want to get some opinions on them.

As pointed out elsewhere, this is very poor choice for your application.

Go with Community R series.

Agreed, the Community R series is what you would go with for harsh full time outdoor hang. They even will last at a resort or beach setting.

Danley offers a couple of different "weatherized" products.

All of the standard wood products are available "weatherized".

They are already made out of marine birch, but to be weatherized they are coated inside and out with a product that is a combination of fiberglass and epoxy.  Then the standard polyurea coating (a plastic type product kinda like truck bed liner).

All the hardware is changed to stainless steel.

The grill is either stainless steel or aluminum with a 2 layer "protective layer" behind it to keep the water out.

The cable comes out the back via a watertight connector.

All "seams" (access panels etc) are filled with silicon that can be removed if service is needed.

Then there is the "plastic series" the OS (outdoor synergy) products that have a heavy duty plastic shell (also used in truck hoods-guard rails etc.) that will outlive all of us.
