How to connect Yamaha SP 2060 with HP laptop?
« on: July 25, 2014, 07:19:28 PM »

Hi guys,

I have:
Yamaha SP 2060 speaker processor,
HP Compaq 6715s laptop,
Netis WF-2409 Wireless Router
Yamaha DME Designer software

Since I am a networking dummie I have problems making SP2060 connect with HP laptop. In DME Designer software, I always get the message "Communication port not set up." no matter what I did.
Can anyone tell me what settings should I use (IP addresses, subnet, gateway, etc...)to make it all work and how to connect it?

Thanks!

Please move this post in "lite" area if needed. Cheers!

Did you also install and configure the DME-N Network Driver?

First make sure Windows has an established connection with the wireless router as that is your port to the Yamaha device.

Yes, windows sees Netis router perfectly, I tried it through a cable and through wireless connection. So the problem is that laptop and router don't see the processor.

I don't know if it matters, LEDs on the front side of the router that read LAN1 and LAN2 both are lit when I plug ethernet cables, one from laptop and the other from processor.

Any ideas how to make this work?

Ok Lan1 and Lan2 led's indicate the ports are active.
Windows connects to the router.  The driver for the digital unit is installed.  Firewall? Disable firewall and try.
Also
Open your web browser(IE,Firefox,Safari,etc) -->find the address bar-->leave it blank-->type  http:// 192.168.1.1-->Press enter.
Take a good look at the router settings and make sure everything is as it should be.

Make sure you can ping the processor from your computer.  If you can't then nothing else will work either.

What are your network settings anyways?  Both computer and processor IP, net mask, and gateway.

Hello Stu,

The firewall is disabled. Drivers installed. I did go to the router settings page that you mentioned, everything seems like it should be. Is there anything particular that I might oversaw, any ideas?

Thank Stu!

Vlad,
I do not see a mask assigned in the settings posted above. Please go to the processor and set the IP address as shown below.

address - 192.168.1.3

mask - 255.255.255.0

gateway - 192.168.1.1

Once done open a command prompt on your laptop and type;

ipconfig /all

then - tracert 192.168.1.1

then - tracert 192.168.1.3

Reply with a screen shot of the returned info if the mask does not fix the problem.

Hi Bob,

thanks for the reply.

Attached are the only three pages from the manual. The subnet and the gateway are set by default in the processor.

Does this clears it a bit? I will now go and try those command lines you sent me.

Thanks!

Have you installed the latest DME network driver on the PC, and does it need to be configured before detection is possible?

Hello Bob,

I have installed the DME network driver from this page:
http://www.yamahaproaudio.com/global/en/downloads/firmware_software/dmen/dme_des400.jsp

Where can I find that dialog box that you posted?

Driver only instals itself and reboots the system, there is no configuration option.

Vlad,
I found this in the manual, page 13. I'm not a user of the software so I really can't say, just doing some research hoping maybe I could help shed some light on the subject. I would say that if you have not configured the DME network app you're headed in the right direction. Now would be the time to call Yamaha support.

I can make in the processor IP address as you suggested, but it automaticly sets its gateway with the same numbers, there is no option for IP address and gateway to be different.

there is a printscreen when I typed first "tracert" command, but on the second one Laptop couldn't find it.

Yes, that might be the best option right now.

Anyway, thanks for your time and effort to help me.

If anyone has any ideas how to make this thing working, please chime in!

Vlad,
I have installed the package. The network driver can be found and configured by going to Windows Control panel. The driver is listed under DME-N network driver. Double click, then configure driver for your device.

Bob, Thanks a million!

I didn't know that there is DME configuration in Windows Control panel. Auto detect did the job, and I had to update the firmware on the processor. Too bad it erased all my presets, but nevermind. I'll reprogram it all over again.

The bottom line is: It works through the cable and also wireless!

Thanks everybody for helping me out, especially BOB LEONARD.

Cheers!
