Palmer PDI09 vs. HK Redbox vs. Radial JDX
« on: July 10, 2014, 03:33:43 PM »

Looking to pick up one of these nifty speaker simulator DI's.

Looks like they all do the same thing with some minor differences... anyone have a preference on sound quality between some of the more popular models out there? Budgets are tight so prices is a concern here-- don't want to spend a bunch of money on the Radial when I can get basically the same performance with the Behringer or Redbox.

Palmer PDI09 - $180
Hughes and Kettner Redbox - $100
Radial JDX Reactor - $200
Behringer GI100 - $50

Thanks!

I remember a few years ago someone did a shootout with metal sounds through three of those (not the JDX) so that may be worth googling.

Mesa just came out with the Cab Clone, which is similar to the Palmer PDI-03 load box speaker emulator, but at half the price… I haven't heard it but could be interesting to have the ability to not run guitar amp speakers if needed.
