Cal Jam 2 1978 JBL advertising poster
« on: February 24, 2014, 08:12:55 PM »

I got this ad poster some years ago, it's been rolled up ever since. I think it's time I get it framed and hang in the space I call my office.
Looking at it close I figure it's Ted Nugent on stage.

Sorry for the so so image, i could not find anyone in the area that had scanner big enough to scan it so I rolled it out and took a picture of it.

I heard Nugent that same year (with Foreigner-Black Oak Arkansas and Mothers Finest) that same year in Charlotte NC.

It was the last concert that was allowed at the Stadium-due to the noise complaints.

Yes it was loud.  All of the bands sounded "fine".  Nugent was the headliner-but when Foreigner came on it was so distorted it was hard to listen to.  With the other bands the "distortion" was at an "acceptable" level.

Thanks for Sharing.

Hello,
I would be interested in buying this poster from you if you still have it, it was the first concert I ever attended, and I am in the photo!
Thanks, Dean

Hello

I realize you most likely found this post from searching for Cal Jam but to post here you need to use your full name as you can see from the other "Posted By:" names.

Sorry it's not for sale, it is now framed and hanging in my office.

Where are you at in the picture?
I did have someone contact me maybe six months ago after seeing this picture and they are in it as well.

That's him towards the middle right hand side. He's wearing a T-shirt.

Yea I see him now!
In the foreground you can see a few people laying on the ground that must have taken in
a little too much of the concert, what a memorable concert experience passed out laying in mud and puke!

When I was in high school in NE Ohio we used to go to the concerts at Blossom Music Center and in those days you could bring in your own cases of beer (!) and as traffic was a considerable issue we would go right after school and stay all night, attending the concert would turn into a 10 hr activity.

I used to laugh at the kids who would come into school the next day or week and boast about drinking so much they passed out before the act even came on, then declare it was "the best concert they ever attended!"
